About Scouting
The purpose of the Boy Scouts of America—incorporated on February 8, 1910, and chartered by Congress in 1916—is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness.
The mission of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people , through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law , to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society.
Ideals. The ideals of Boy Scouting are spelled out in the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, the Scout motto, and the Scout slogan. The Boy Scout measures himself against these ideals and continually tries to improve. The goals are high, and as he reaches for them, he has some control over what and who he becomes.

Vasquez Rocks over the Feb 19th weekend. Please let us know right away if you are interested in going to this local campout at a recognizable landmark. This campout is more hiking and scout camp skill training than a real campout. We have a group campsite reserved and if it does not rain it should be very comfortable. Campfire skits are expected and needed so each patrol needs to prepare something for this outing. Click here for permission slip.
Weather permitting scouts will have a chance to complete some requirements for the Astronomy Merit Badge.
Cooking at the campout will be done by the scouts for the scouts...mess kits are required including a knife, spoon, fork and cup. No exceptions...if you do not have a mess kit please invest in one...around 10 dollars most places.
